The Witch from Mercury (We’re not in Kansas anymore!)

So last September it was announced that Gundam fans were getting a new show that was scheduled to air in October of this year. The show is wonderfully titled “The Witch from Mercury”. It’s the first show we’ve had in about seven years, not since Iron-Blooded Orphans.

I’m not going to lie, I was intrigued by the title of it. Witch? Mercury? Sign me up!

What do we know so far?

Well thanks to the teaser trailer, the show will feature its first main female protagonist since the original came out in the late 70s. Her name and personality are unknown. We can see her standing in what I can only assume is her own mobile suit. Its name is Aerial! We’re also given a look at a few other suits, such as LFRITH and Beguir-Beau

The timeline that it’ll take place is currently unknown, as is the main plot. What we do know is that Sunrise plans for it to air in October on a Sunday timeslot.

My thoughts?

I’m interested to see how this plays out. The names stand out as more angelic than demonic like IBO. I’m leaning towards this being an alternate universe, perhaps? I do wonder if they’re going to use something similar to the psycho-frame, as we can see the glowing red frame.

Our female protag is a source of excitement to me. What’s her personality like? Is she rough and tough or calm and collected? Is she the witch of Mercury? The title itself brings thoughts of newtype abilities or something similar. Nonetheless, I can’t wait for the show.

New kits?

Yes! According to the 2nd Gundam Conference, we’re getting at least three 1/144 High-grade kits that are already in production.

So the first High Grade is the Aerial Gundam. This design is really nice! The slim waist, torso, and legs really do it for me. I have several custom ideas that I could do to this. I wonder if the clear parts are stickers?

The next is the Beguir-Beu This is my least favorite of the three. It’s nice but just not my cup of tea. I do like the backpack and back skirt.

The next is the 1/144 HG Lfrith. I dig this one! It feels very similar to the Aerial.

I can’t wait to see what else will come in the future!

Warm regards,

(Have an opinion or question, drop a comment and let me know!)

  1. I’ve been looking forward to this one too, so have my boys. In a perfect world this would be the calamity war (IBO history) but I doubt thats gonna happen.
