Has anyone ever had weird experiences with gunpla outside of people in the hobby being weird?
So one of my favorite pastimes is going to my local library. I like to read and it’s free books! What’s not to love?
(Go sign up for a library card!)
So typically it’s a pretty eventless thing. I go in, bop around for about half an hour, and try to decide on a book to pick out. I’ve been on an art history kick lately but I was also torn between some Star Trek novels. Deep Space Nine has been an ongoing rewatch lately (currently on season 5). They had A Stitch in Time, a novel closely following Garak’s life, everyone’s favorite simple tailor. I went with a different book on De Kooning. Kinda regret that choice but there’s always the next time.
So I was standing in the section where all the art books were nestled, minding my business in my char pilot shirt and rainbow fanny pack.
Two guys are staring at me. Weird but nothing new until I overheard something.
“Is she wearing a nazi shirt? It has an eagle on it? That’s disgusting”
The duo bickered back and forth about this for a bit.
To which, I was a little amused. They kept staring for quite a bit until I walked away with my book. I wonder how the rest of the conversation went.

Now, for those of you who don’t know, this is Char’s pilot emblem.

Last thing I need is issues in the library, it’s one of my favorite places.
(Granted, Zeon does mirror Germany during the war but that’s for another day)
On a different note..
My favorite local (The Comic Store) is closing up their retail location in October, after a great forty-two-year run. They’re moving the business over to a warehouse that, from what I know, will still be open to the public and online. Which is great and should be local still.

I saw a post that someone said was closing for good and I felt dread! It’s my favorite hobby store! I literally can get lost in it!
Congrats to the owner, John (such a rad due) on the semi-retirement and for helping to foster a great local hobby community.
I hope you found this post enjoyable. Have any questions or opinions? If so share them in the comments.
Happy Tuesday everyone!

They just loudly argued about whether you were a Nazi in front of you? That’s absolutely wild. I have no idea how I would have reacted to this, but I wear a lot of anime shirts and they certainly start conversations. Some are great and some, like when a CHILD recognized my Danganronpa shirt, are… not.
