The Impact Of Annihilation On My Builds

So for years, (well since 2020) people have been telling me to watch a science fiction film called Annihilation.

The movie is different from the book but still highly enjoyable!

You gotta watch it, you’ll love it!

Have you seen this movie called Annihilation?

Have you read a book called Annihilation, it’s similar to what you do!

Highly recommended!

Annihilation is the first book in a trilogy called Southern Reach Trilogy by Jeff VanderMeer. It follows a team of four into an abandoned area called Area X, where everything is not as it seems.

I’m not one for movies too often so I put it off and put it off until one day someone told me to shut up and go watch it. I did. I was not aware of how stupid I was for not watching it sooner. The first fifteen minutes struck major chords for me and twenty-five minutes in I had already ordered the first book. After the movie, I found the author on all platforms I use.

I’m not going to spoil anything major about the film but there’s something about strange unknowns and biological/ecological/cosmic horror that moves me deeply. Let’s just say it has inspired me deeply.

Most of these projects are done using aquarium gravel (for the base), hot glue, mod podge, and spraypaint. Then added on are colored lichen and a pool of glow-in-the-dark resin.

Here are some wips that I started to work on inspired by Annihilation. The one with the Barbatos is inspired by the pool scene. If you know, you know. I want to do one with the tower scene from the book as well.

I tried to create tiles (with little success)

The beargguys are going to be part of a larger diorama. I’m hoping to have at least fourteen beargguys involved in it. Not sure of the overall theme but I’m going with the motions on it.

I highly recommend checking out Annihilation if you haven’t already!

I hope you found this post enjoyable. Have any questions or opinions? If so share them in the comments.

Happy Tuesday everyone!
