Time seems to fly in the hobby. It seems just like yesterday when I brought home my first Haro.
2020 was a crucial year for me when it came to scale modeling. It’s the year I got my first airbrush and really started to get into painting more than just haros. A fun little dive into the evolution of my art style.
I started to engage in advanced techniques and began to hit my stride.
I figured it’d be cool to take a look at some of the non-haro builds.
Cosmic Brownie Gusion

I built this guy at my very first build night! This is arguably one of my own personal favorites.
The base coat wair airbrushed after a black primer layer. The colors were then dabbed on with a q-tip. The Dots were done by the handle end of a paintbrush. This is all acrylics, mainly army warpaint.
10/10 best brownie.
Drug Z’gok

“Captain, I can’t spot the enemy but why can I taste space??”
This is a 9/10 to me.
This was psychedelic inspired. Base coats airbrushed on. The details were handpainted with acrylics and then slapped with a topcoat.
Turbo Zaku

I really need to redo this style on an MG or Nightingale.
This was a really cool style I achieved primarily by airbrushing Turbodork and using index card stencils. The details were hand-brushed on.
9.5/10
Neon

This is honestly my least favorite paint job that I consider stripping every time I look at it. It’s plain and boring.
6/10
(I may just strip it next year)
Horror Beargguy

This was a goofy little project that I love. It was inspired by Junji Ito.
It’s airbrushed and handpainted (yet again).
8/10
Metallic Funk Zaku

I find myself not using metallics as much as I probably should.
This is mildly inspired by Kusama.
9/10
