Yesterday marked the start of the Gunpla Builders Association’s fundraiser to help raise funds for the American Heart Association! It will be hosted on their Discord and other social media accounts.
Here’s the run-down of the event from one of the discord’s moderation:
“We are going to be running a Gunpla contest like we normally do, but in the fundraising form of a charity run. We will have all participants sign up for our Tiltify team page to start a donation page for their builds. For every $100 raised, it gives you an entry ticket into one of our 3 contests. You may enter as many of these contests as many times as you have raised increments of $100. As we hit milestones, the prizes for all categories will be increased. I do want to mention at this point that the objective is to raise money to sponsor your builds, while you yourself can donate money, it is not necessary to do it all on your own.” -(Ezekiel Genesis)
The three contests that can be entered are:
- Basic Build:
This build will be a straight build out of the box. It will be judged on how clean the kit is assembled, panel lining, sticker and decal placement, and how cleanly nub marks are removed. The starting prize for this is 1 HG kit.
- Intermediate Build:
This is all of the above plus what ever custom paint you want. For this build, we are not allowing any customization other than a custom paint job. We will be judging these builds the same as the one above, plus how well each kit has been painted. We encourage all participants to utilize whatever type of painting techniques want for this, The starting prize for this is a Premium Bandai HG kit.
- Expert Build:
This will be a wide open full custom build. You have free rein to utilize all methods of customization you have at your disposal. We will be judging utilizing all the methods above plus on how creative the build with any customizations used to make it. The opening prize for this will be an MG Kit, We will also be having a prize pack set aside for the person who raises the most money. This will also increase as we hit milestones, and is currently set at a prize pack of an MG and an HG. The prize increase and reveal will be revealed at the end of the week we reach that. -(Ezekiel Genesis)

Additional info from the mods
- Need to note that all prizes will be free of shipping domestically or to a domestic surrogate address if you have someone in the USA that will ship it to you. We’ll need to talk if you win a prize and want it directly shipped about how to cover the shipping costs. If you are sending us a surrogate address to ship something out, after the prize reaches the surrogate address, we can’t be responsible for what happens after that, so make sure it gets sent to someone you trust!
- We’ll also be encouraging participants to post WIPs and Final projects in the #build-a-thon-event tab so we can share your works across social media. If you do this, please also post your social tags so we can credit you for your hard work.
- All participants will get a custom role for the duration of the event to promote their builds and fundraising
