I finally wrapped up this year’s entry before my current cold started kicking my ass.

For a quick recap of the Cerulean Project:
The Cerulean Project is a community-based art exhibit featuring builders from across the globe. This exhibit is both featured online and in a printed book. This project focuses on building a strong, healthy community while raising awareness for mental health. The book and project provide mental health resources and break down the stigma that surrounds mental health.

My 2024 Entry: Adumbratus

This was a fun one to work on! The kit used was the USAGundam Apex.
The primer was just a simple citadel white base primer, rattle-can. Then I used a mix of red paints that I had. Some include reds from:
Winsor & Newton
Liquitex
Citadel
Army Painter
I mixed several reds and made small tally marks on the apex in layers. These marks were built up until the entire Apex model was covered. Then I unified the reds using an Army Painter Red Speed paint to give them a consistent tone.

The other parts, such as the faceplate, were a mix of military gray and light blue. It was also hand-painted. The eyes were painted gold and coated with UV resin to give them an overly glossy look. Other details were painted black.
I accidentally dropped the model when I was gloss coating, messing up some small details. I attempted to fix what I could, but ultimately decided to keep some flaws.
The flaws are the most important part to me and the theme of this build. It’s like what Bob Ross said. No mistakes, only happy accidents. I could’ve gotten upset over dropping the part and spent the whole day upset about it.
It’s just not worth my headspace. Mistakes happen. Accidents happen. We can do what we can to prevent them, but they just happen. I just don’t want to beat myself up about it. I take notes of what to do next time and try to move on.
Other than that, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s entries for this year! It’ll be great!
The prep for next year has begun as I create a new mood board for it.
