Let’s attend: New England Quilt Expo- NEQE

I have been delving into fiber and fabric arts again. It’s one that I stopped in 2017 because gunpla consumed my life. Quilting, weaving, cross-stitching, yarn spinning, and the like.

I was able to attend the New England Quilt Expo in Manchester, New Hampshire, this past weekend at the DoubleTree Hilton, which also hosts GraniteCon.

Street parking was difficult to find, but there are always parking garages around. We had a five-minute rainy walk to the venue. Luckily, my shoes didn’t get soaked this time. The venue’s always great to go to. It’s clean, and the staff are always helpful. They had food available for purchase and a place to sit if needed.

This was my first time attending a quilting event, and I’m glad I did. Saturday was the last day of the expo, and it lasted from 9-3.

I had a phenomenal time. The vendors were all local quilt stores and businesses in the New England area.  They were incredibly kind and helpful. My fabric stock was greatly replenished.

You could even check out local quilting guilds!

I didn’t submit a quilt because I have only finished two, and they are… interesting. Maybe next year!

The quilts they had displayed were such a treat to view. I’m gutted that I forgot to take pictures of the 1940s-1980s vintage quilt tops. I did, however, take plenty of photos of the other quilts. They were separated into two different areas, some in the main venue area and others in a different venue area.

The craftsmanship on these quilts was phenomenal. It took about two hours to get through the gallery because I pored over these quilts. The fine details were incredible. Amazing how people can take scraps of fabric and turn them into art. Truly baffling!

I do recommend going if you’re in the area next year. Ticket prices weren’t expensive, ten or fifteen bucks. During the week, they had classes and lessons you could take. I couldn’t because I had work.
