The Prisma is a dubbed title to unknown virulent parasitic entities that consume and terraform environments to enable further growth. The name is given to the variety of colors that are spawned by these entities. Vivid colors of rainbows appear unnaturally. Plants infected will appear far more vivid than their uninfected counterparts. A Prismatic entity is a threat if undiscovered. They reproduce by infecting other living organisms, conquering any tissue they can find. This process is slow, as some entities struggle to adapt to certain organic materials. 

The Prisma is a hive mind and while it starts as a singular entity, the connection between entities grows as more are assimilated. It seems that the entity will lose contact with small bands of infection until they reach a large population sample. When it reaches that point, it is a planetary infection event. Not a fun event either. The nature of the hive mind is still a mystery, as some entities retain a sense of individualism and groups of others act as singular entities. The hive mind is deceptive in its nature. It will trick those who cannot be infected, seducing them with the idea of power or other wants.

Those who don’t join willingly are met with aggression.

The origins of the Prisma on Earth are unknown to humans. The first infection location is heavily redacted but theorized to be in New England due to the number of SIAO outposts popping up. The date of the first infection can be traced back to the spring of 1999, around March or April. Theories range from logical to absurd.
