So when I posted about eating Tyranids, I wasn’t expecting the response it got! Then, through chats and pondering, I decided to look at the Pokémon franchise.
Putting the ethics of eating Pokémon aside, it is canon lore wise, and some of these critters look appealing. So here are eight Pokémon and their evolutions that I’d eat.
1. Oddish (and its evolutions)

Tell me that they wouldn’t be delish and taste like scallions or leeks. The whole evolutionary line looks edible. The greens(?) or flower parts would be added to salads and the meat portions would probably pair well with veggie heavy dishes. Maybe with some eggplant, onions, squashes, and so on.
2. Pidgey

I would cook this like a traditional chicken. Whole roasted or fried up. I didn’t add in the other evolutionary forms because I feel like they would be too tough, meat wise. Pidgey looks like it would have some nice delicate meat.
A nice roast smeared with herb butter paired with some small potatoes, carrots, and a white wine.
3. Parras

This is the best of both worlds, culinary wise to me. It has the features of both a crab and mushrooms. I’d break this apart to use the mushroom for a broth and use the meat in another dish. Maybe toss it all together in a ramen or noodle soup.
4. Tentacool

Most aquatic Pokémon will be on my cook list. I’d use Tentacool either in a soup, grilled, or fried. Fried in like Calamari.
5. Slowpoke

Look, in Game, Lore tells us that Slowpoke tails are considered a delicacy, and I wouldn’t shy away from trying it. Maybe smoke it like a brisket with some cherry wood. That’d be nice. Serve it with some coleslaw and collard greens. Cornbread as well.
6. Shellder (and Cloyster)

I’d honestly serve these like clams or oysters, granted I don’t think I’d be a be able to serve them raw. So maybe in a chowder with corn and potatoes. Maybe fried with fries.
7. Krabby (and Kingler)

This answer may be a little plain but a crab boil. Very simple. A bunch of seasoning, orange juice, lemon juice, potatoes, corn, and eggs dumped in the pot along with these two. Better yet, Krabby Rangoon.
8. Bellsprout

I’m sautéing this up or maybe even tossing it into a stew. Maybe even Gong Bao Bellsprout. Something with a little heat to it. Bellsprout stuffed with some cheese, cream cheese, and jalapeños.
